Just out of sheer curiosity, I tried out following exchanges to see if SMM (Social Media Marketing) Exchanges really works. It comes out that they do bring in traffic. A quick look at google analytics and site logs revealed that there was a spike in traffic. the number of unique visitors shot up by 200%.
Does it really work?   YES
Do you want to do it? NO
Strange thing that happened was the bounce rate also increased sharply up from 20% to 80%. Average duration of visit sunk to bottom low currently at 35 Seconds. down from 2 minutes.
Worst of the lot was was stumbleupon. Digg’s traffic is lot more targeted still. visitor stay longer and did click on few links. few of them back linked some articles too.
I have a theory about stumbleupon visitors. They have an attention span problem. This could be a problem with this site’s content too. Please share your thoughts. Below is the list if you are looking for this.
- www.piqq.us best so far— active people – organic exchange but low traffic
- http://digble.com/ Opensource software to create exchanges etc. a phpbb fork
- http://streamlinetv.com/
- http://www.stumbleswap.com/ have not seen much traffic from here
- http://suexchange.com/
