Planning an African Safari! Don’t swim in Congo River!

African Tiger Fish Or Goliath Tiger (Hydrocynus goliath) is found in the Congo River system. They initially have stripes on their skin but these stripes fade with age. Tiger fish is know to grow over 135 cm and  upto 50 kg. It is a very mysterious and unstudied fish. It is a ferocious predator & close relatives of the Piranha but grow tp become much larger than Piranhas. They are famous for their sharp teeth and strong jaws. Can be very lethal when attacking animals and people.

I lived near the limpopo river for a number of years, often fished for “tigers” and swam in the river. Crocs were my worry, never heard of anyone who were bitten by Tiger fish.

Wow, that is a big Tiger fish, we catch them almost every day, but one that size is pretty rare where we are.

Looks a wierd but dangerous fish.Look at the teeths!!!!!!!!! It can rip a flesh out of ypu.
