Apparently Dubai have constantly showcased unimaginable edifices and world class infrastructures which wouldn't have have been actualized with the doubting conception of what it ought to be in the last three decades ."Mere dersert" ,presently possesses an eye popping glamorous packages ranging from ultra modern shopping malls to man-made ports ,man-made island and more than a lot to behold. The royal administration of the entire region are wise ,having expected and conceived that some day the oil rich state will go dry on the multi-billion oil deal and focused on various areas of investment .I had travelled severally on Emirates airline which is being owned by the same giant stride minded city of dubai and observerd that they are flying mostly the youngest and most sophisticated aircraft on the planet and to crown it all i was told by one of the flight attendants convincinly that the airline are presently taking delivery of the highest number of the Airbus 380 jumbo aircraft among its rival airlines in the world. Consequently i have been opportuned to travel on different international airlines and non could be measured with Emirates strenght of quality services ,brand of fleets and curiosity in maintenance and reliabilty.

Very nice pictures of Dubai. They say that the hotel that looks like a wind sail (6th from the top) is the only 7-Star hotel in the world. Please do note that a 5-star hotel is luxurious enough... they outdid themselves by putting a 7-Star one... 2 stars better than 5.

Amazing buildings,to receive tourists,They are investing the proceeds of oil, the question is: will be investing not only in a certain area and not in manufacturing, electronics etc, they should diversify their investments when the oil runs out?

It is amazing what the human mind can conceive. About 30years ago, anyone would have doubted the possibility of turning a desert into such a desirable place.
It is unfortunate that the cost of visiting as a tourist is high. Not for the average man.
Nice pictures and write-ups. Cheers.

Can't really see why this is a tourist's paradise. Most of the pics you showed are illustrations of something to be built in the future and all the rest, without exception, can't be visited by 'regular' tourists. I'm counting as regular anyone who can't afford the $500-$10,000 a night a the Burj-Al-Arab.
So what are you left with? Well, over 110ºF and 95% humidity, traffic chaos, restrictions and total lack of respect for women in general, lack of a standard address system that would confuse any newcomer...
I can see how all these nice glass and steel can fill your eyes but it certainly doesn't make it a 'tourist destination' on those merits alone.

It would certainly be a nice place to see. I'd really like to see the islands with my own eyes or stay at the Atlantis hotel, but I'm afraid a trip there is so far beyond my means it's not even funny. Sad. It's beautiful, but definately a playground for the wealthy. I still enjoy seeing all of the pix though....I can dream.
