I think your price estimates for a hotel in New York around Christmas are on the low side. When I went up for New Years a couple years ago we were hard pressed to find *anything* available for under $300. You are right that if you are planning to head to New York in the month of December it’s also best to reserve a hotel as soon as possible. Now would be good.
