Flight delays can be extremely irritating and boring. Once inside the lounge, you don’t have much to do. But here are some ways to cope with the tiring situation.

Singapore Airbus A380

1. Find a kid

If you’re fond of children, this may work well for you and give some time to fellow passengers also to relax while you distract their children for a while. The important thing is that children mostly travel with supplies. By supplies, I mean crayons, markers, and things to color.

This might distract your mind and keep you busy for some time. Thus go on, and find a kid and play.

2. Haiku

Haikus are short, simple, and challenging as hell. And the best thing is that you need nothing else but your brain. Thus direct your anger and frustration towards this.

Pick some theme. You can be raunchy, serious or ridiculous.

3. Talk

Look around you and most probably, you’ll find someone as bored and frustrated as you are. Don’t be shy, simply go over and introduce yourself. Don’t be deceived by appearances. At the very least, you can gripe together. Remember that everyone has a story; the trick is just to listen.

4. Walk

Although you may be tired, but get your blood moving and explore your environment. You may be stuck in that plane seat anyway for a long time. Take this opportunity to give your body some exercise, enjoy a simple walk and smile at people you pass.

5. Write a letter or two.

Although it may sound old-fashioned, but take advantage of this chance to think about the people in your life. Think about the people you like, but never get time to actually tell them about how you feel.

Travelling always has its own surprises. But it is important to keep your spirit alive, and enjoy every moment of it. If you take it as a burden, you will not be able to bear the pressure. Try to relax and enjoy, even the delays.

Ugh, flight delays are the worst! But you are soooo right about making the most of it. Sometimes it’s the only thing that can keep me sane.
