Every year, the Old Town Manassas Virginia celebrates the Christmas season, having a weekend of family fun at the "Merry Old Town" celebration.

The main events include the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, the Manassas Christmas Parade, a gingerbread contest and various holiday activities for all age groups, giving the whole family something to look forward to.
Annual Christmas Tree Lighting
Taking place on Friday, December 4, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. at the Manassas Museum, 9101 Prince William Street, Manassas Virginia. The Santa arrives vie VRE train at the Manassas Depot at 6 p.m. A live concert is also arranges in the evening, on the lawn of the Manassas Museum. A family fun day for all, the lighting ceremony, free hayrides, and visits with Santa.
Manassas Christmas Parade
The actual parade takes place on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Old Town Manassas. A great chance to see amazing floats, local celebrities, live performances, marching bands, equestrians, animated characters, giant balloons, and Santa at the Manassas Christmas Parade.
The parade will begin at Mathis Avenue and ends at the intersection of Center Street and Grant Avenue. You can also enjoy Christmas stories at the Train Depot from 2 to 5 p.m.
Old Town Manassas Open House
This will take place on December 6, 2009, starting from noon until 5 p.m. A perfect chance for you to find the perfect gifts for family and friends, while enjoying sidewalk carolers, horse drawn carriage rides, ice skating, refreshments and more.
Manassas Gingerbread Contest and Display
This annual contest begins on December 1, 2009. They will be displayed throughout town during the “Merry Old Town” Celebration in Old Town Manassas and the public will select the winners.
