The world is full of chocoholics. And while some of you may not be crazy about it, the majority would love to travel around the world tasting the best chocolates ever. There are a few places that are exquisite when it comes to chocolates.
1. Tain L’Hermitage (France):
The famous chocolate producers, Valrhona, are based in this small town. There is a school called Valrhona Ecole du Grand Chocolat. It teaches chocolatiers, caterers and professional chefs. The school also organizes a three-day course to teach decadent desserts to amateurs.
2. Cologne (Germany):
The Stollwerck Chocolate Company is based in this town. It was once the second largest chocolate supplier to the United States. A museum has been opened commemorating these chocolates called Imhoff Stollwreck Museum. It celebrates different chocolates from all over the world.
3. Hershey (Pennsylvania):
Hershey was named after the extreme popularity of Hershey’s Chocolates in 1906. It has also been dubbed as the sweetest place on earth. The Hershey Company and the H.B. Reese Candy Company both are based in this chocolate-loving town. There is a chocolate spa, Hershey’s Chocolate World and the Hershey Story Museum.
4. Villajoyosa (Spain):
Villajoyosa is also famously called the Chocolate City. The oldest gourmet chocolate producer of the country, Valor, is based in this city. There is also a great chocolate museum that tells the story of chocolate production in the town and also gives an idea about how the local chocolate is made.
5. San Francisco, California (USA):
San Francisco boasts to be one of the oldest chocolate manufacturers in the country. There are great chocolate tours with all the amazing chocolate shops.
6. Barcelona (Spain):
Barcelona boasts to be the first European city that got to experience chocolate brought from the New World. They also had the first ever chocolate making machine. The city has a rich chocolate history and an attraction for chocolate-lovers. There is a museum celebrating the city’s love for chocolate called the Museo de La Xocolata.
7. New York (USA):
New York is a center that has brought together people from all over the world. The same diversity is seen in their chocolates as well. There are chocolatiers from all over the world who have brought mouth-watering delights from their native places. There are amazing chocolate shops and great tours to experience them. The most famous are the Luxury Chocolate Tour and the New Cuisine Chocolate Tour.
8. Oaxaca (Mexico):
Oaxaca had some of the world’s first producers of chocolate. The people have embraced chocolate as part of their traditions. Most of the chocolate manufacturing is done using the old-fashioned family recipes. If you walk down a street, there is a certainty that you will be .offered chocolate in some form. Enjoy a chocolate candy, hot chocolate or a chocolate pastry.
9. Zurich (Switzerland):
The city of Zurich hosts some of the most renowned chocolate-producing companies. These include Toblerone, Cailler-Nestle, Lindt, Sprungli and Treuscher. There are more chocolate consumers in Switzerland than in any other country. You can enjoy the city by taking a tour on the Swiss Chocolate Train.
10. Brussels (Belgium):
The two biggest chocolate companies of the world are found in Brussels, Leonidas and Godiva. There are numerous other chocolate boutiques too.
