Rivers are a means of obtaining drinking water and irrigation also, if the water in the rivers exceeds a certain limit then the
river may also flood and cause destruction.

The 14 largest river of the world, Parana River is mainly located in Brazil it also runs in parts of South America in Argentina and Paraguay. River Parana also flows into three other rivers with a length of about 2,485 miles.

This river is located in U.S.A starting at Lake Itasca in Minnesota and from there travels to the Gulf of Mexico. The second largest river in U.S.A, it is also feared because of its high tides with many of the levees been built proved unhelpful in holding back the water.

This river is not only the largest river of China but also of Asia and the third largest river of the world as well. This river is also known to flood and dams have proved to be of little help in preventing it from flooding.

The third longest river in South America with a length of 1,330 miles, this river also flows through Venezuela and Colombia. This river begins at the Delgago Chalbaud Mountain and passes the forested terrain and waterfalls after which it slows down.

The largest river of the world by volume, it is located in South America and accounts for 1/5 of the world total river flow. The river is said to have a depth of 150 feet and has a powerful discharge of about eight trillion gallons every day at the mouth.

Located in Bangladesh starting at the South-western Tibet going through the Himalayas and then through Bangladesh. Its length is about 1,800 miles and is used for irrigation and transportation, some parts of the river are prone to flood after the snow in the Himalayas melt and gets prone to flooding.

Yenisey River is the fifth largest river of the world with a length of 3,445 miles. It flows through Yenisey Gulf, Mongolia and drains in the centre of Siberia, the upper part of the river is prone to flood and rapids.

9. Mekong River

Mekong River

Mekong is Located in China and runs through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Burma, Cambodia and Vietnam. It is the 11 longest river of the world and 7 longest river of Asia, its length being 2, 703 miles.

10. Lena River

Lena River

This is the 10 largest river in the world its length being 2,734 miles. This river which finally flows into the Laptev Sea flows northeast and also joins with two other rivers. The river floods in the spring after the ice in the Lena river melts.
