Delaware Tourist Attractions

Delaware is a small state in terms of the area it covers and for this reason there are no common tourists’ landmarks in Delaware such as monuments, wildlife parks, and historical memorials. However, it has other type of tourist attractions like parks, lighthouses, historical museums, and beach resorts.

Delaware is usually famous for its beaches and beach resorts. Americans living around Delaware especially visit the beaches of Delaware during vacations.  A Great number of vacationers come from Washington D.C, Pennsylvania and Maryland. The popular beach in Delaware is the Rehoboth that is regarded as the “The Nation’s Summer Capital”, as it gets a great traffic of beach lovers during summer season.

Delaware is also popular for its music concert. This music concert is held each year and it is called as the “Clifford Brown Jazz Festival”. This music concert attracts a huge traffic of Jazz music fans from all over the world. People of other states of the United States especially visit this concert.

3. Air Mobility Command Museum

It is another popular tourist landmark in Delaware. This museum holds historical importance because it exhibits a number if fighter planes that are from the World War II. Some of these planes include B-17 Flying Fortress, Cargo Master, Strato Freighter, Star Lifters, and Flying Boxcar.

This museum is housed in the Dover Air Force Base and tourists are allowed to capture pictures of this museum. You can also see a nuclear bomb that is called Douglas Air-2 Genie bomb.

4. The Fountain of Youth

The Fountain of Youth lies in the Lewes in Delaware. It is believed that it was first time discovered by the Dutch explorer. This place was world famous for it regenerative and healing qualities. Fountain of Youth is now a private property since 1937, but still it is a popular tourist landmark in Delaware.

5. Punkin Chunkin

Punkin Chunkin

It is a world famous pumpkin festival that features pumpkin throwing to a distance as far as the participants can throw it. This is one of the most popular attractions of Delaware. This festival was first time started in 1986. Participants of this festival use a number of machines to throw pumpkins in the air and these machines include trebuchets, catapults and big guns. When this festival was started first time, pumpkins could only be thrown to a range of 1300 feet. Currently with the advanced launching machines, participants can throw pumpkin to a height of 4500 feet.

6. The Monster

The Monster

It is located at Dover and it is a huge monster that travelers can see it when they are half a mile away from the original location of this monster. This monster is the most expensive monster in the world, as it was built by $6 USD. Apart from this, it is also the largest monster in the world. This monster attracts a great stream of tourist and visitors from all over the world every year.
