It has the oldest megaliths in the world, tracing their history to 5200 BC. It was earlier a part of the Roman Empire in 218 BC, during which time the textile industry flourished. After that, in the year 870, Muslims reigned the islands, and in their period cotton and citrus fruits were grown in the island. It is said that St. Paul visited the islands as he got shipwrecked on his way to Rome, which is commemorated on the 10th of February in the form of celebrations.

The Coast Of Malta:

Tourists can enjoy on a yacht trip the different hues of the color blue caused by the rock formations underneath the calm Mediterranean Sea. There are around 34 dive sites, so that tourists can enjoy the diverse marine environment, with visibility down to 30 meters. They can visit the reef, caves, and ancient shipwrecks dating to the war days. Gozo Island is particularly ideal because of the species of fish in the shallow regions.

The Food In Malta:

Pasta is popular in Malta with its variety of pasta houses, as well as fresh fish and live lobsters. Another specialty is cheese, served alongside crusty bread and tomatoes. The local dishes include herbs, vegetables, tomatoes ripened in the sun, green peppers and artichokes that are cooked into soups to be eaten with bread. To add to all this variety, there is Italian cuisine, as well as famous French restaurants, and fast food outlets.

Old World Attractions Of Malta:

Its medieval towns of Medina and Cittadella are worth visiting. The same goes for the capital Valetta, which is a representation of European art and architecture. There are old world shops worth visiting because of their many antique items.
