WAIT! Before putting together your air-tight holiday itinerary, have a look through the following places that you probably didn’t know existed. Think, how hard would you be kicking yourself if you’d spent near $2000 on a trip to Morocco and returned only to realize you’d missed its very own Roman ruins? Yep, Roman ruins..in Morocco..

Well it would be too predictable to start with that now wouldn’t it? But this sight for sore eyes is just as breathtaking. Borobudur in Indonesia was a thriving temple serving the Buddhist faith for hundreds of years from approx the 9th century. Don’t let its location between 2 Javanese volcanoes scare you out of an experience worth talking about!
A home Terry Pratchet would be proud of, Göreme, Cappadocia of Turkey holds such distinctive stone formations, the people decided to live in them. Harbouring monasteries dated from near 300 AD, the modern world was soon to cash in on the idyllic location by carving in hotels.
Probably a usual suspect on most must-see-destination lists, Wat Phu, Laos also hides this little gem. The riverside town of Champasak is actually pathway to beautifully inspiring Khmer temple ruins. So much so in fact that they’ve been given Unesco World Heritage status as of 2001.
OK, lets show you those ruins now. Volubilis, Morocco which isn’t even very far from Meknes shows their almost trade mark columned temples and triumphal arches. Just emphasizes the already magnanimous legacy of the Romans really don’t you think?
The ancient Burmese capital Bagan, Myanmar is apparently a “rogue state” which is likely to be the reason that these 2,217 peaked-dome temples really are so exclusive. But guy’s, come on, it is such an amazing feat that we as humans can’t help but feel like nothing is impossible.
