Jiuzhaigou Valley is most commonly popular as the Fairyland on Earth. It is located on the border line of Jiuzhuigou County, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan. It is situated between the south-west margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and on the northern region of the Duo’erna Mountain Range. It is located on a height of approximately from 2,000 to 3, 000 meters at a distance of approximately 435 km from the capital of the province Sichuan, Chengdu.
Two magnificent rivers are located in the eastern adjacent area of Jiuzhaigou, these are the Baihe River Nature Reserve and the Wanglang Nature Reserve. In its souther region, there is an eye candy Huanglong Place of Scenic Interest. Jiuzhaigou is spread over an area of 720 square kilometers.
Nine Village Valley

In ancient time, Jiuzhagou also called as “Yangtong”. Currently it is also called with many other names like JadeSea and Heyao Jiuzhai. The lieral meanings of Jiuzhaigou are a Nine Village Valley. This is because it has nine Tibetan villages; these villages are Panxin, Yacuo, Rize, Zechawa, Panya, Shuzheng, Heye, Heijiao, and Zharu.
Land of Shiqiang

Jiuzhaigou along with the upper parts of the Jialing and Minjiang River are called the “Lnad of Shiqiang”. This name was used in ancient times when human activities were recorded in the early period of Yin-Shang Period between 16th and 11th Century B.C. JadeSea is about 50 kilometers to the northeastern county as reported in the Records of Songpan volume 1 – Rivers and Mountains. This book further tells that it is located in the vicinity of the territory of Zhongyang Tongfan Tribe.
