Texas is the second largest state of America. Its area is more than 268,601 square miles, and a growing population of 25.1 million residents. Texas touches the border of four states namely; Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Texas supports the economy of US through both industrial and agricultural ways. Spain was the first European country to claim the area of Texas. France held a short-lived colony in Texas. Mexico controlled the territory until 1836 when Texas won its independence, becoming an independent Republic.

Association With Sports

A lot of people are attracted towards Texas because of its associations with sports. The Paul Bunyan statue was built in January 1937 in Bemidji, Minnesota. It weighs 2.5 ton and stands as tall as 18 feet wearing a plaid shirt. Its companion is the faithful Babe the Blue Ox. There are also other over-sized objects around them like a flyswatter, toothbrush and playing cards.
