Food fighting has been followed as a tradition in many countries. Some might find it wasteful, and downright insensitive. This is considering the fact that millions of people do not get sufficient food to fulfill their stomachs. However, they have been there as fun filled occasions for centuries.
1. Candy Fight, Catalonia, Spain:

After eating their traditional meal, locals rush out of their houses, throwing meringue dessert at each other. If they run out of meringues, they substitute it with sweets. Needless to say, this is one big treat for all the children in Catalonia.
2. Tomato Fight in Italy:

The oldest tomato fight known to man takes place in Ivrea, Italy. Its origin can be traced back to the 12th century. What a fun way to commemorate the victory of your town people over a tyrant!
3. Tomato Fight in Sutamarchan, Columbia:

Hundreds of locals and tourists participate in this food fight. People hurl tomatoes, not at each other, but at the sky. Getting dirty is a must, as what goes up, must come down. There is also a tomato eating competition.
4. Yet Another Tomato Fight:

This one takes place in Reno, USA. There are about 5000 participants, and 100,000 tonnes of tomatoes. Needless to say, everyone receives a fair share.
5. La Tomatina, Bunol, Spain:
