Since 1960s Dubai has developed with unbelievable pace and style. If we look at today’s Dubai and compare it with 1960s Dubai we will feel the difference which is hard to believe. Here we will look at the Dubai of 1960s, few buildings which are identity of Dubai, how they look in 1960s and how they developed.
Popular Places
The famous Clock Tower at the roundabout of Almakhtum Bridge. Roads were not as crowdie as now near that roundabout there was Dubai Trade School situated which was inaugurated by Sheikh Rashid to educate trade skills to the young generation. Near by Dubai Industrial Gases and Oxygen Company is situated where different gases were manufactured for industrial use as well as other purposes to meet the demands of local manufacturers and also to export as well. Behind the Clock Tower The famous Philips building was there which was one of the initial high rise buildings in Dubai. In early 70s a part of that of the building collapsed resultantly crushing many cars but luckily without causing injury to any person. The building was than demolished. Most of the mentioned buildings are demolished now.
Dubai Airport in 1960s
Airport facilities in 1960s were smallest as compare to today’s one of most facilitated airport in Asia. Dubai Airport in 1960s consists of a compressed sand runway, an undersized terminal building along with a service building attached with the terminal building. Facilities were least as compare to now. The rulers of Dubai decided to build a new and modern airport. It was decided that new airport will be built at Al Ghusais. Place was chosen for the location of new Airport because it situated close the Dubai City and easy to get to for everyone.
Development Work During 60s
In 1962 Al Maktoum Bridge Road Ramp and Dubai Creek started to build. Both the project was built by Overseas AST. AST was an Austrian Engineering and Construction Company starts its working in Dubai since 1959. AST was responsible for building many of Dubai’s famous projects. Read the full story

On the world’s changing scenario of modernization Dubai’s night life has also come a long way since mid 90’s. Dubai cannot be compared with the other happening places around the world but still it has lots of noise, water fountains and entertainment that can drag the young generation for all kind of fun, one is looking for in Dubai.
One can always look for any club as they are open till 3am in the morning, so the timing is not the issue if you are looking to party around with friends. But the time has a restriction on it, just as the clock ticks 3 on the dot everything has to end otherwise the club owners will be charged with fines on them.
You may not find many clubs open during Ramadan and those still manage to keep them open, will surely not serve you with dance, music and drinks. The rest of the year you would find them open with a lively environment with music streaming in and world class DJs appearing on the scene on regular basis such as Hed Kandi and Groove Armada (at Trilogy), Paul van Dyke, DJ Tiesto (at Madinat Arena – not a nightclub), DJ Krafty Kuts (at IBO), Eric Morillo (at Trilogy), Ferry Corsten and Schiller at Peppermint Club, are few to name for the appearance on the music scene.
