10. Chuquicamata, Chile 
Located in Antofagasta Province of northern Chile, Chuquicamata or “Chuqui” open-pit is in the Atacama desert, high on the western slope of the Andes at 9500-ft elevation. It is the world’s greatest copper ore body. It is one of the largest at 4.3Km long, 3Km wide and over 850m deep.
9. Udachnaya Pipe, Russia
The Udachnaya Pipe is the largest diamond open-pit-mine in Russia and one of the largest in the world. It consists of two bodies, east and west, which are both diamondiferous.
