This is going to sound very Seinfeld of me to say but as much as I watch that show I do not think they covered this subject. There are so many things that piss me off but this is one that really irks me. Let’s say you go into a store, probably a convenience store or a bodega but it could be any kind of store. You purchase an item or items, let’s say a pack of gum and some anal lube (just to see the clerk’s reaction), and the total comes to $5.99.
You hand $6 to the clerk and they put the money in the register and start ringing up the next person. You stand there like an idiot waiting for one penny in change. You are now faced with a conundrum. Do you leave without your penny and without saying anything or do you stand there and wait for your penny? if you do stand there do you make a noise or say “excuse me you forgot my change” or do you just stare at the clerk until they realize their error? There are so many ways this could end and almost all of the endings are bad. Either you are someone that doesn’t stand up for themselves and does not place any value in the penny or you are a cheapskate that waits around for a penny change and makes a big stink about it.
