Holiday Season travel has started in the US, with the Thanksgiving Weekend. All the flights are packed, and if unfortunately, a passenger misses on a connecting flight, he/she may have a hard time re-booking due to the busy season.
Moreover, due to the busy schedule and cutbacks at airlines, all the staff is stressed, and the number of flights to certain destinations may have decreased, again making it harder to rebook a flight.

Do not restrict yourself to the airfare of only one airline.Travelers must take necessary information of other airlines too. Sometimes it happens that some other airline offers a more affordable package for the same distance. 
Illegal connections can also be used to travel. These are connecting flights. Their flying schedule is not showed up on the computers. All you have to do is to ask your traveling agent to get two tickets. One for the regular flight and the other for the illegal connections that originates at your transfer point.
This way you can save your precious time. For instance,your destination is San Francisco,as you land in O’Hare,you do not have to wait for three hours for the safe connecting flight. You already have a ticket on an illegal connection,thus you can continue your journey.And if somehow you miss your flight,you can take another on that very ticket.As far as the cost of two tickets is concerned,its almost the same.
