Richard Garriott, son of Owen Garriott as well as a video game creator, landed back to earth after a 10 day holiday on International Space Station. This Trip cost about £17 million (approximate $30 million) to him. He was on board with cosmonauts Oleg Kononeko and Sergei Volkov on a Russian spacecraft Soyuz TMA-13.

Garriott Back on Earth

It is reported that he took all this adventure just to take a few photos of earth to see how they compare to the ones his dad took 35 years back. Had someone told him about Google Earth, he could have saved himself almost half a billion dollars.

What US Govt. Knows about UFO’s: Unclassified CIA Documents

Posted by R MAK 19 July, 2008 (6) Comment

Internet is a strange place… torrent and p2p world is even stranger. while searching for UFO on P2P, I came across this document from US Govt.’s 1954 - Operation Majestic Team. Till now all information about UFO’s came from civilian sources. This document that was classified at that time reveals that US Govt. did know that UFO exist & thus they created a proper manual with standard operating procedures for handling extra terrestrial objects and life forms. Operation Majestic team existed and the team members were called Majic Eyes.

Pages from US ARMY - UFO Official Manual

This team supposedly responded to all UFO sightings & took possession of all materials and evidence. They interviewed the people involved and pretty much responsible of cleaning up the whole scene. The manual talks about in great length about how to pack and unpack materials found on site.

5 Reasons Why You Should Not Upgrade to Opera 9.5

Posted by R MAK 20 June, 2008 (10) Comment

[ad#ad-2]

I have been opera fan for some time now. I loved the way it looked. its speed, usability, reliability and the wealth of widgets and other utilities it comes with. IRC, emails, downloads and “The Wand” to name a few.

Why You should not download Opera 9.5

As I was using the beta version of its 9.x release, I could not wait to go ahead and install the Latest release of “Opera 9.5″. I was excited to try my hands on newly installed version of my favorite browser. I installed few widgets like weather, clock and to do lists; all in hope of enhancing my productivity. After the initial euphoria with the improved interface and shiny skin was over I discovered the harsh truth.

1. All My Bookmarks were deleted. Even All “Speed Dial” was no more. Blank page was laughing at me.
2. All Browser History was erased.
3. All the “Notes” were lost forever.
4. All My Email Accounts were erased. Emails I downloaded in last few weeks were gone.
5. All My Cookies & saved passwords have disappeared.

I recommend that you do not upgrade / download new version of Opera if you do not wish to lose your personal data. It is not worth it.

I did download the Firefox 3.0 the same day and It upgraded without a problem. The new sleek and sexy look of Firefox really rocks. I am seriously considering to discontinue all other browsers.  I strongly recommend that you get your hands on latest Edition of Firefox 3.0 as soon as possible.

Time travel could be possible in months

Posted by R MAK 16 June, 2008 (2) Comment

Russian scientists have claimed that time travel could take place this year as an inadvertent by-product of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) run by Cern.

Mathematicians Irina Aref’eva and Igor Volovich said that when the LHC begins to smash atoms into each other the conditions will be perfect to open a wormhole into the distant future.

“Proton-proton collisions at the LHC could lead to the formation of time machines (space-time regions with closed time-like curves) which violate causality,” said the scientists in a research paper.

“One model for the time machine is a traversable wormhole. We argue that the traversable wormhole production cross section at the LHC is of the same order as the cross section for black hole production.”

The other possibility, according to the mathematicians, is that miniature black holes will be formed under the French and Swiss countryside.

However, if the time machine hypothesis is correct we will not be seeing visitors from the future because the wormholes will be barely larger than atoms.

The LHC is the world’s largest scientific instrument, consisting of a 27km loop 100 metres under the French and Swiss countryside. It is due to go live later this year.
