A Tip About Polish People for Someone Traveling to Poland

Posted by R MAK 12 November, 2008 (1) Comment

A man goes into a store and tells the clerk, “I’d like some Polish sausage.”

The clerk looks at him and says, “Are you Polish?”

The man, clearly offended, says, “Well, yes I am. But let me ask you something. If I had asked for Italian sausage would you ask me if I was Italian? Or if I had asked for German bratwurst, would you ask me if I was German? Or if I asked for a kosher hot dog would you ask me if I was Jewish? Or if I had asked for a taco would you ask if I was Mexican? Would ya, huh? Would ya?”

The clerk says, “Well, no.”

With deep self-righteous indignation, the guy says, “Well, all right then, why did you ask me if I’m Polish just because I ask for Polish sausage?”

The clerk replies, “Because this is Home Depot”.

Posted by R MAK 9 November, 2008 (1) Comment

If you love adventure travel and do not care much about travel warnings issued by US and other governments, Cambodia should be your next destination. Cambodia is situated in South East Asia, between Vietnam and Thailand.  Phnom Penh is Cambodia’s capital in every sense of the word. The city is so rich in culture and tourist attractions that it can keep you busy for more than  a week.

But if you have only a weekend to spare,  we recommend that you should take a early flight to Phnom Penh in on Friday afternoon and  enjoy Saturday and Sunday packaged tours of the city and then take a late night flight on Sunday night back to home. This  way you will enjoy a great weekend tour of the city.

Location of Cambodia

If you are  have only one place to visit in Phnom Penh, It has to be the Royal Palace. It is a complex of buildings constructed a century ago for King of Cambodia.  It was also a venue of his court and a symbol of his kingdom. The Royal Palace and attached ‘Silver Pagoda’ compound has several buildings, structures and gardens that are all located within 800  meter square walled grounds. The Compound also overlooks a riverfront park.

Travel Tales: Books I Picked up, Only to Put Back on Shelf

Posted by R MAK 6 November, 2008 (1) Comment

When travelers have time to spend in a city, they resort to a multitude of activities. One of my favorites is visiting the local bookstore for bargains and new titles.

This journey is really exotic as One will always find a book that he has never seen before. Some times I do blow up my budget and have to cut short my cruise or take a cheaper one, only to buy a book.

Enough has been said about books and travel, I should come straight to point. Over time, when you think you have seen all kind of bizarre and weird books, something new comes up. I have collected below, covers of some really strange books.

Stranger is the fact that some of these books have been best sellers of their time. Enjoy them.

  1. How To Avoid Huge Ships by Captain John W. Trimmer
  2. People Who Don’t Know They’re Dead by Gary Leon Hill

Posted by R MAK 30 October, 2008 (1) Comment

The charms of a Private Island is universal. They are exuberantly expensive to buy and very few can afford to rent them. Private Islands in tropical settings are in high demand. These Islands usually cover dozens of acres and are beyond the reach of ordinary folks. Scale down those Islands and you get very affordable Private Islands; Miniature Islands or tiny little islands with enough space for one to two bedroom homes and a backyard to grill some fish.

Kids…..

A first-grade teacher, Ms. Brooks, was having trouble with one of her students. The teacher asked, “Harry, what’s your problem?”
Harry answered, “I’m too smart for the 1st grade. My sister is in the 3rd grade and I’m smarter than she is! I think I should be in the 3rd grade too!”
Ms. Brooks had had enough. She took Harry to the principals office.
While Harry waited in the outer office, the teacher explained to the principal what the situation was. The principal told Ms. Brooks he would give the boy a test. If he failed to answer any of his questions he was to go back to the 1st grade and behave. She agreed.
Harry was brought in and the conditions were explained to him and he agreed to take the test.
Principal: “What is 3 x 3?”
Harry: “9.”
Principal: ” What is 6 x 6?”
Harry: “36.”
And so it went with every question the principal thought a 3rd grader should know.
The principal looks at Ms. Brooks and tells her, “I think Harry can go to the 3rd grade.”
Ms. Brooks says to the principal, “Let me ask him some questions.”
The principal and Harry both agreed.
Ms. Brooks asks, “What does a cow have four of that I have only two of?”
Harry, after a moment: “Legs.”
Ms. Brooks: “What is in your pants that you have but I do not have?”
The principal wondered why would she ask such a question!
Harry replied: “Pockets.”
Ms. Brooks: “What does a dog do that a man steps in to?”
Harry: “Pants.”
Ms. Brooks: What starts with a C, ends with a T, is hairy, oval, delicious and contains thin, whitish liquid?”
Harry: “Coconut.”
The principal sat forward with his mouth hanging open.
Ms. Brooks: “What goes in hard and pink then comes out soft and sticky?”
The principals eyes opened really wide and before he could stop the answer, Harry replied, “Bubble gum.”
Ms. Brooks: “What does a man do standing up, a woman does sitting down and a dog does on three legs?”
Harry: “Shake hands.”
The principal was trembling.
Ms. Brooks: “What word starts with an ‘F’ and ends in ‘K’ that means a lot of heat and excitement?”
Harry: “Firetruck.”
The principal breathed a sigh of relief and told the teacher, “Put Harry in the fifth-grade, I got the last seven questions wrong……

Travel Destinations: Champs Elysees, Paris, France

Posted by Paul Acoin 22 October, 2008 (3) Comment

Champs Elysees is one of the most famous streets in Paris, France. It is home to some of the best cine-plex, restaurants and luxury hotels. If you happen to visit France, you should at least visit here one. you would not like to miss a chance to be on most expensive real estate in continental Europe. It is a shopper’s paradise.

The Champs Elysees has been included in top places to visit in Paris by many tourists and blogger’s. But due to recent economic slow down the business is quite slow in Paris. You don’t see so many people ordering red wine on these streets. still no one can argue that the view is great. Still travelers are including Champs Elysees in their plans.

Places to Visit in 2009: Beijing, China

Posted by R MAK 15 October, 2008 (3) Comment

Beijing is heart of China, It is it’s capital in every sense of word. After Olympics, It has once again regained it’s top position in  place to visit  list of many tourists.

Beijing is situated at 40 degrees north latitude and 116 degrees east longitude. It lies at approximately the same latitude as Philadelphia in the U.S. and Madrid in Spain. It is 43 meters above sea level and 183 kilometers from the sea. Beijing covers an area of 16,800 square kilometer, 38% of it is flat land and 62% mountains. Surrounded by the Yanshan Mountains on the west, north and east, Beijing stands on the alluvial plain of the Yongding River and faces the Bohai Sea.

Beijing has a continental climate. Annual rainfall averages nearly 700 millimeters; most of it comes in July and August. Winter is dry and cold. The frost-free period is 185 days. The best time to visit Beijing is May, September and October, when people enjoy bright sunny sky.

In order to see it all, you should spare at least 6 or more days. Be prepared to spend upward of  $200 per person per day once you land in china till your departure. Based on information gathered from friends and some Internet searches, I have planned following plan to fully enjoy Beijing, China.

Day 1: The Great Wall and The Ming Tombs

Visit the Badaling section of The Great Wall that is the most famous of all because it is well preserved and restored to fullest glory. It climbs up and down, twists and turns along the high mountain ridges. A real treat to watch and experience.
